Why Chocolate for Valentine’s Day?
The chocolate originally come from South America and brought by the colonist trough out the world. The Aztecs has commonly used the chocolate as a present. And these days it’s a common thing to give chocolate as a gift to represent the word like “I am sorry”, “thank you”, “congratulations”, or even “I love you”. And if it’s been given as gift on Valentine’s Day, it’s definitely says “I LOVE YOU!” For most people it’s more than just a food. Because the chocolate somehow can makes you feel so good.
The chocolate can stimulate so many emotion and feelings for human. It’s been associated to love, romance and passion. The Aztecs believed that chocolate was a fountain of spiritual wisdom, bundles energy and as aphrodisiac. The Aztecs only use the chocolate as a drink. A glass of this drink make their warrior is able to walk for a whole day without food.
Modern science has reveal that chocolate is containing organic substances called alkaloids, theobromine which has the effect as a stimulant to the kidney and the central nerv system, just like caffeine. Inside chocolate is also can be found phenylethylamine, also known as endorphins that are produce naturally in human body. Which have the same effect as amphetamine. When endorphins are spread into the blood system, our mood is get better and senses of positive energy are increased. And the presence of phenylethylamine in the brain has long to be associated to “falling in love”. The last substance that can be found in chocolate is serotonin, which has the effect as calming properties. These would elaborate mix of feelings that produce by chocolate.
The best chocolate is the dark chocolates which contain high cacao butter with no added fat and less sugar. Chocolate is good for your heart and soul, and it can help to reduce the stress.
